This Walther P.38 AC41 First Variation represents early 1941 production during the critical expansion phase of German rearmament. Manufactured at Walther’s Zella-Mehlis facility, First Variation AC41 pistols are distinguished by their early machining characteristics and superior finish quality. These pistols were issued as standard sidearms to the German Heer during the height of early World War II operations.
The P.38’s short-recoil, locked-breech operating system and double-action trigger marked a major advancement in military handgun design. Soldiers benefited from safer carry with a loaded chamber and rapid first-shot capability. Early AC41 examples are especially respected for their smooth operation and precision fitting.
This example displays correct AC over 41 slide markings along with multiple Waffenamt inspection stamps. The presence of E/359 and E/353 confirms Walther factory inspection by two distinct inspectors, while the Eagle/Swastika denotes formal Heer acceptance. The AC stamp on the left trigger guard is correct for early AC41 First Variation frames.
First Variation AC41 P.38 pistols are notably scarcer than later 1941 and 1942 production.
