Description:
The H&R Arms Co M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It features a 24-inch barrel and an 8+1 capacity, consistent with the U.S. military configuration of the period. This example was manufactured in September 1954 and retains a fully functional adjustable rear peep sight and ambidextrous safety. The rifle follows the standard Garand layout with a very nice smooth wood pistol-grip stock and matching handguard, complemented by a checkered metal trap-door butt plate. The very good condition finish is the original government-issue military style.
All major components are marked HRA, including the bolt, trigger assembly, hammer, trigger, operating rod, and barrel, which is dated August 1954. The bore condition is described as excellent, with clear rifling and reflective interior surfaces. This M1 Garand is used, showing the expected characteristics of a mid-century service rifle, but the mechanical assembly and markings align with the Harrington & Richardson production standards of the era. Serial number 5531234 corresponds to the September 1954 manufacture date.
Included is the complete rifle as configured, with its original wood furniture and fixed military hardware.
