Luigi Franchi prewar Best Quality 'Boss Pattern' 12 gauge Over/Under with 28" barrels of Poldi Anticorro premium anticorrosive steel, ejectors, articulated front checkered double triggers, solid steel rib w/ bead front sight, full sidelock action finished in bright finish, S/N 1007, 1940 70mm proofs( 2 3/4"), full PG moderately figured stock and forend with checkered horn grip cap and checkered butt, Anson push button forend release, 100% coverage of the finest rose & scroll engraving very similar to the Franchi Imperiale Monte Carlo model, their highest quality SxS, mfg. in the same period of time. I've seen two others of this model, both 4 digit S/N's close to this one and proofed in 1940, so I think this model was extremely low production and not brought back after WW2, when Franchi focused on making automatics and lower grade doubles. This model was equal to the Imperiale, and probably sold for a slightly higher price, due to huge amount of handwork needed to manufacture it. Franchi was generally regarded as the premier Italian maker before WW2. There is a clip on youtube titled 'Franchi Boss shotgun' for additional information. Very uncommon model. $14,500.00 OBO
