This is a pretty decent looking old Winchester 1400 series semiautomatic shotgun. These old guns normally run like a champ. This shotgun has some scuffs and dings from use but nothing to bad. Just enough for good character. It looks as if someone tried to re finish the wood and maybe even shorten the stock. Looks like something may have ran down onto the butt pad as well. Probably what ever coating they chose for the wood. There are also what looks to be apoxy or something similar on top of the reciever possibly filling a couple holes maybe drill for some sort of sight. But all In all this is one great feeling shotgun. This Winchester was NOT tested with live ammunition. It WAS dry fire tested. Action moves as it should and trigger functions and resets as it should. Everything locks tight and seems to work as it should. This weapon is sold in AS-IS CONDITION due to it not being tested with live ammunition.
