Mechanically, the SVT-40 is a gas-operated, short-stroke piston semi automatic chambered in 7.62x54R and fed by a 10-round detachable box magazine. The rifle wears the correct long military profile with vented handguard, perforated shroud section, under-barrel cleaning rod, and the multi-slot muzzle brake that helps tame recoil and keeps the rifle shooting flat for its class. The protected front sight and tangent rear sight keep it pure military issue, while the long sight radius and full-length stock give it the look and feel of a true wartime self-loader. It is a battle rifle with speed, reach, and unmistakable Soviet attitude.
