1894 SPECIAL ORDER FULL FANCY DELUXE OCTAGON RIFLE, .32 W.S., #464XXX, MADE 1910. This must have surely been a stunning rifle when new! It features extra fancy walnut in the stock and forearm, checkered pistol grip with Winchester embossed grip cap and checkered forearm. Obviously, this was someone’s pride and joy hunting rifle that was seriously used. The receiver is mostly aged gray with some good blue on the loading gate. The barrel shows good aged blue with the magazine tube mostly an uncleaned brown. It is fitted with a Marbles buckhorn rear sight with elevator intact and a Winchester small blade front sight. The but stock shows lots of handling wear, but no abuse. The checkering on the pistol grip is visible, but very worn. Wood to metal fit is good. The forend shows some minor chipping at the corners and like the pistol grip, the checkering is heavily worn. The action is tight and the half-cock is strong. The fine bore is fairly bright and shows only some light scattered corrosion. I’m sure there are loads of great hunting stories locked away in this attractive 116 year old full deluxe 1894!
