"Serial no. 63282. Manufactured in mid-1944 by Kokura Arsenal, Series 24, chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka,26"" round barrel. The bore is good with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The bolt is non-matching to the receiver, though the bolt components remain matching to each other. The imperial chrysanthemum (“mum") remains intact on the receiver, a highly desirable feature indicating the rifle was not surrendered through the normal post-war channels. The metal has aged to an attractive brown patina, while the stock shows expected handling impressions accumulated through military service. An intact mum combined with honest service wear makes this an appealing example of a wartime Japanese service rifle. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
