Marlin Model 27, serial number 843, first year production 1909, in caliber 32-20 Winchester, 24" octagon Special Smokeless Steel barrel with dovetail front sight, factory 2/3 magazine, plain black walnut stocks, straight grip, steel crescent butt, grooved fore arm, blued finish, plain trigger, correct Rocky Mountain rear sight with fish hook elevator, pump "trombone" action, take down frame, upper tang factory drilled/tapped/plugged for peep sight, left side of receiver drilled/tapped/plugged for scope mount, 7 shot capacity, weight 5 3/4 pounds, overall length 42 1/4 inches. Production of this model ended in 1932.
CONDITION: Receiver retains 90% original bright blue on the sides and lower tang, upper tang and receiver top worn to patina. Barrel retains 95% original bright blue. Mag tube retains 95% bright original blue with expected wear at the back end due to operation of the pump action. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded, just light nicks and dings here and there, still tight and proud, having an extra coat of light varnish for protection. Action is crisp and smooth with a properly working half cock safety. Take down is tight with no wobble and functions properly. Sights are original. Bore is super bright and shiny with sharp Ballard style rifling, a 9.5 of 10. Serial number matches in upper channel of butt stock and in inside of tang. Overall grades Excellent and is a very nice first year Model 27 that will continue to increase in value while bringing much joy at the range and in the woods.
