J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. Single Shot Rifle - .32 Centerfire Conversion
For sale is a J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. single-shot rifle, chambered originally in .32 rimfire and converted to .32 centerfire.

Consignment Rifle

The rifle features a 24-inch barrel and measures approximately 40 inches overall in length.

Serial number 58309 is marked on the rifle.

This example aligns with the Stevens Favorite series (including variants such as the Model 1915 Favorite), a line of affordable single-shot falling-block rifles produced by J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. The Favorite models were introduced in the 1890s and produced through the 1930s, with the Model 1915 variant commonly associated with production starting around 1915. These rifles were popular as utility and small game rifles, known for their takedown design, straight-grip stock, and simple construction. Stevens production records for these models were largely lost or destroyed, making precise year-of-manufacture determination difficult. The five-digit serial number format is consistent with earlier assembly/batch numbering practices used by Stevens on Favorite rifles, generally pointing to production in the early 1900s.

The rifle has been converted from its original .32 rimfire chambering to .32 centerfire, a common modification for continued usability as rimfire ammunition availability changed over time.

Important Note: As with any vintage firearm, a qualified gunsmith should inspect the rifle for safety, including headspace, action integrity, bore condition, and overall mechanical function prior to firing. Barrel and receiver markings include standard J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. identification and patent information typical of the era. This is a piece of American firearms manufacturing history from one of the most prolific producers of single-shot rifles.
