The Remington Model 37 Rangemaster stands among the finest American smallbore target rifles ever produced, and this example represents an especially desirable early-production specimen. Serial number 01655 places this rifle within the first years of Model 37 production, a period highly sought after by serious Remington collectors. Built specifically for competitive smallbore shooting, the Model 37 quickly earned a reputation for exceptional accuracy and mechanical refinement. This rifle remains configured as a true target gun and is accompanied by a remarkable collection of period accessories.
At the heart of this setup is a heavy 28-inch match barrel paired with a period J. Unertl external-adjustment target telescope. The Unertl system utilizes target blocks and a return spring arrangement that defined precision rimfire competition for decades. The combination of the heavy barrel, refined target trigger, rigid action, and premium optics created a rifle capable of winning matches at local, collegiate, and national levels. Even today, collectors and shooters regard the Model 37 as one of the most accurate rimfire target rifles ever manufactured.
