EARLY COLT PYTHON .357 MAGNUM REVOLVER (1962) – 6" BARREL – ROYAL BLUE – BOXED
Offered for sale is an exceptional early-production Colt Python chambered in .357 Magnum and manufactured in 1962. This highly desirable example features the classic 6-inch barrel, Colt's legendary Royal Blue finish, ventilated rib, full underlug, adjustable rear sight, wide target hammer, serrated target trigger, and original Type II "smiley face" checkered walnut target stocks with gold Colt medallions.
Introduced in 1955 as Colt's premier double-action revolver, the Python quickly earned a reputation as the finest production revolver ever manufactured. Renowned for its hand-fitted action, outstanding accuracy, and unmatched Royal Blue finish, the Python remains one of the most sought-after collector revolvers in the firearms world.
This revolver remains in excellent original condition, retaining approximately 98% of its factory Royal Blue finish. Light muzzle wear, a faint cylinder turn line, and a few minor handling marks are present, consistent with careful ownership. The action remains smooth and precise, while the original walnut target stocks remain excellent with only modest edge wear.
Included is a period-correct Colt Python box. The box bears a matching serial number notation on the bottom and is believed to be a factory-correct period box. Early boxed Pythons continue to attract strong collector interest, particularly examples from the desirable pre-1970 hand-fitted era.
