Description:
The Colt Official Police .38-200 is a variant of Colt's famous medium-frame, double-action revolver, specifically chambered for the .38-200 cartridge (functionally identical to the .38 S&W). Between 1940 and 1941, nearly 50,000 of these were purchased by the British Purchasing Commission as a substitute standard sidearm for Commonwealth forces Key Specifications & Features Caliber: .38-200 (also known as the .38 S&W). Note: Do not confuse this with the standard .38 Special; these cartridges are dimensionally different and not interchangeable. Production Years: Manufactured primarily between 1927 and 1969, with the British-contract .38-200 models produced just before World War II. Barrel Lengths: Typically a 5-inch barrel for British contract models, though civilian and military surplus models were produced in 2", 4", and 6" variations. Features: British-contract models often feature military acceptance stamps, a 5-inch barrel, and a military-style lanyard ring on the butt. .38 S&W
