I am an FFL Dealer in Connecticut, as well as a collector. The business name, Warthog Arms, is derived from my Air Force service as an avionic tech on A-10 Thunderbolts (also known as the Warthog). I always strive to go the extra mile to ensure a very satisfying transaction and have an established, trustworthy reputation. I also use GB for listings so if you would like to view my feedback, you can look me up in Advanced Search under Warthog-Arms. My current rating there is A+(195). Description: For your consideration is a Terni Arsenal-made Italian Vetterli Model 1870/87 rifle in its original 10.4mm chambering. This is not a later conversion from the Model 1870 single-shot but was built from the ground up in 1892 with the Vitali magazine system. I like to call it a Model 1887, though some collectors don’t use this terminology for this configuration. There are no import marks, suggesting this came to the States prior to 1968. The rifle retains its original finish with good, honest bluing and strong overall character. The bore is very good with strong rifling - far better than typically seen on these rifles. Metal surfaces show original finish with minor loss. Wood is solid with normal service wear. There is a medium chip at the buttstock toe, but it is not very noticeable from the side and does not affect stability. All markings, including the Terni arsenal stamp and 1892 date, are clear and legible. Stock and receiver are serially matched, barrel and receiver match through assembly number. Bolt is non-matching, which is common for this model. Rifle is missing the cleaning rod. Mechanically excellent and fully functional. Rear ramp sight is original and intact. A solid, above-average example of a late-production Terni Vetterli for any collector of Italian military rifles. You’re not likely to find one of these at the milsurp import sites, especially in this original condition… Thanks for looking!
