Description:
The Savage Model 99 is a legendary, hammerless lever-action rifle renowned for its advanced engineering and highly streamlined design. When configured with a 24-inch barrel and chambered in the proprietary .300 Savage cartridge, this rifle represents the pinnacle of mid-20th-century deer and big-game hunting platforms. Its internal rotary magazine revolutionized lever-actions by allowing the safe use of aerodynamic, pointed (spitzer) bullets. The pairing of a 24-inch barrel with the .300 Savage cartridge maximizes the round's ballistic potential, pushing a 150-grain bullet to roughly 2,630 feet per second. This profile mimics original .30-06 Springfield performance in a much shorter action, making it highly effective for elk, bear, and deer at medium-to-long ranges. Because production of the Model 99 ceased in the late 1990s, original 24-inch variants in clean condition—especially those with intact color-case hardening on the lever command premium collector prices today. .300 Savage
