Description:
A Very Early, Desirable, & Scarce First Model U.S. Military Issued Springfield Model 1865 Allin Conversion Breech Loading Rifle In Very Good Condition. Made in 1865 & designed by "Erskine S, Allin", Master Armorer at Springfield Armory. There were 5,000 made from the Model 1861 Percussion Musket. The rifle has very good metal & markings. The lock and hammer still retain original colors on them as shown. The breech retains its original darking blue color on it. All the rest of the metal on the rifle has a very nice untouched natural patina on it. It has fine looking wood throughout it with a very nice grain to it. All edges are very good. There is a very faint U.S Inspectors Cartouche on the backside of the wood. The rifle has a very good bore and tight action in it. This Is A Very Good Example Of An Early, Desirable, & Scarce First Model U.S. Military Issued Model 1865 Allin Conversion Breech Loading Rifle!
