This pistol would have started out life as a flintlock and converted to Percussion circa 1862, well after the percussion firing system was introduced, possible for use in the American Civil War. Founded in 1690, the Manufacture Nationale d’Armes de Tulle, referred to in English as the “Tulle National Weapons Factory”, was a French state-owned weapons manufacturer. Tulle Arsenal was one of the main French small arms producing centers from the 17th century through to the 20th. It was, though, of lesser importance to the main arsenals at Saint-Étienne, Maubeuge, and Châtellerault. This pistol is very likely to have seen action in any of France’s many colonies during this period. Other significant conflicts include the Second French Intervention in Mexico as well as the Franco-Prussian War. As mentioned above, it was possibly converted to percussion prior to sale to either the United States or the Confederacy early in the Civil War. The overall condition is good. Original dark brown patina. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age with some rifling remaining. An average amount of handling wear is present on the wood along with legible cartouche/proofs on the left wrist flat. Markings are legible. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-3/4 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Conversion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
