Description:
1876 Antique COLT “NEW LINE” .30 RF ETCHED PANED Pocket Revolver WILD WEST

Frontier/Hideout SELF DEFENSE Revolver

Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Etched Panel Colt New Line .30 Caliber Revolver, made in 1876 in Hartford, Connecticut. A single action revolver, this small pocket revolver was one of a number of inexpensive handguns produced by Colt from 1873 to 1884. The “New Line” was Colt’s first production model handgun chambered for .32 caliber and outnumbered all other pistols in Colt’s “New Line” group. This revolver utilized a .30 caliber cartridge matched to a 5-shot fluted cylinder fitted to a 2-1/4” long round barrel. The .30 caliber models were manufactured between 1874 and 1876 with 10,946 revolvers being produced, making this chambering harder to come by compared to the other calibers.

The New Line series of revolvers, including all calibers, was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884. Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt.

As mentioned, this handgun comes with the highly desirable etched panel on the left of the barrel, and the matching serial number on the butt, bottom of the barrel (“511”), rear face of the cylinder (“511”), and handwritten in pencil inside the right grip panel.

The overall condition is very fine. Excellent action. Original finishes are preserved. Etchings on the left side of the barrel are clear. Fine grips. The bore is semi-bright with strong rifling. Numbers match.
