High original condition Colt 1911 US military pistol, caliber .45ACP, made 1917, with a matching dated holster made by the Warren Leather Goods Co.

Description:

Standard configuration Colt Model 1911 as issued to the US military in 1917 with 5-inch barrel in .45 ACP, SN: 166413, brushed blue finish, with fixed half moon front sight and "U" notch drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide marked with the usual patent dates and Colt's address in Hartford, CN, Rampant Colt at rear, the right side marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S.ARMY". The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with the encircled "GHS" military inspector marking just behind the trigger cutout. S/N: 166413 on the right side of the frame. The top of the barrel is marked with the small, sideways "H" and "P" above the chamber, the "H" repeated on the rear of the slide above the firing pin retainer and, along with other markings, adjacent to the disconnector. Checkered walnut grips with large diamonds around the grip screws. Dual tone magazine with five indicator holes and a pinned unmarked floorplate. Complete with an original World War I US military issue leather holster with an encircled "US" on the flap, the obverse surface with the manufacturer markings, matching "1917" date, and "G.W.S." inspection.

Condition:

Impressive 95-97% bright, original, brushed blue finish with light sharp edge wear as one might expect from a holstered pistol, "CHS inspection breaking through the blue, slight thinning/toning on the front strap and holster-related rub marks on the flat mainspring housing. Comparable condition grips, the right panel with a small area of blunted checkering near the lower screw. EXC original condition magazine. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. VG+ matching year-dated holster with oil-related staining, fine age-related cracks on flexing surfaces, intact stitching, usual verdigris around the reinforcing rivets, tie down cord absent.
