Description:
Offered for sale is a Smith & Wesson Military & Police revolver, serial number S819261, manufactured in the immediate post WWII period (1945–1946). This scarce S prefix series represents the first commercial production run after wartime contracts ended and features the newly adopted post war hammer block safety, making these revolvers highly desirable among collectors.
This example is built on the classic K frame, chambered in .38 S&W Special CTG (.38 special), and retains its factory blued finish with the correct post war fit and polish that S&W was known for. The revolver exhibits the traditional five screw frame, smooth double action operation, and tight lock up. All rollmarks remain sharp and well defined.
Condition is excellent for its age, showing only light handling wear. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the mechanics are crisp throughout. The grips are period correct walnut with S&W medallions, fitting tightly with no cracks or chips.
This is a high quality example of an early post war M&P, ideal for collectors seeking an original S prefix revolver from the transitional era before S&W introduced model numbers.
