This is a very handsome looking pistol that has retained about 92-95% of the original browning along the barrel, with the balance faded to a dull plum-brown, with some very minor silvering at the muzzle. The "(Crown) / GR" cyphered, "TOWER" marked lock has muted color case-hardening with some small spots of mild freckling and fading scattered about. Crisp military proofs are present on both the barrel and lockplate. The wedge-fastened walnut stock is in fine shape with only minor handling marks and small surface blemishes scattered around the original oil finish. The underside of the stock looks to have been lightly sanded but the proof makes are still crisp inside the ramrod groove. The brass furniture is likewise in fine shape, with an overall mottled yellow-ochre patina and some small impact marks and surface scratches here and there. A crisp storekeeper mark is present on the right side of the top of the grip: "(Crown) / GR / 1800"; and a large "(Crown) / JR" on the left side of the stock just behind the sideplate. The lock is fully functional, and locks firmly at both half and full-cock. This is an excellent example of a Napoleonic Wars Era British pistol, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
