Description:
The Hanover Arms Co. 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun is an antique side-by-side hammer gun featuring 30-inch blued Belgium Damascus barrels. The barrels are choked Improved Cylinder and Cylinder. The receiver shows a bare steel finish, and the shotgun is fitted with a checkered wood pistol grip stock and matching forearm. Overall length measures approximately 46 inches, with a 13 3/4-inch length of pull. The front bead sight is missing. Serial number 4096 is marked on the firearm.
This shotgun is used. The hammers and triggers operate, though the firing pins are stuck and the lockup shows some looseness. The bores are dark, consistent with age and use, and may improve with cleaning. The frame and furniture display surface wear typical of an antique firearm, and the checkering on the stock and forearm retains its carved pattern.
Included components consist of the original wooden stock with factory checkered butt plate and the paired 30-inch Damascus barrels. No additional accessories or replacement parts are noted. The firearm represents a complete Hanover Arms Co. double hammer configuration from its era, retaining its original mechanical layout and markings.
