Description:
For sale we have an early production Colt 3rd Model Dragoon revolver in .44 Caliber. One of 10,500 guns produced by Colt from 1851 to around 1861, this early production gun is martially marked. Gun has a period (post-war) nickel finish that omits most of cylinder scene engraving, as well as US and patent marks on frame. Clearly visible are all serial numbers, Sam Colt New York address on barrel, Colt's on frame. Gun remains in excellent mechanical condition with 6-shot fluted cylinder and 7.5" barrel. Grips show visible cartouche. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Loading lever latch is missing. The Dragoon Colt was the ostensible replacement for the famed Walker Colt, and saw extensive use in the Civil War and on the American frontier. Antique, no FFL required.
