Description: Offered for sale is an Italian-made MAVI percussion muzzleloading rifle chambered in .50 caliber. This traditional Hawken-style black-powder rifle features an approximately 28-inch octagonal barrel, double-set triggers, an adjustable target-style rear sight, globe-style front sight, brass trigger guard, brass buttplate, brass patchbox and wood stock. A wooden ramrod is mounted beneath the barrel. The barrel is clearly marked “CAL. 50 – BLACK POWDER ONLY – MADE IN ITALY” and displays the MAVI manufacturer’s logo. Serial number 012972 is visible on the barrel and breech area. The Italian boxed “AA” proof-date code indicates 1975 production or proof. The rifle is in good to very good overall cosmetic condition. The blued octagonal barrel retains a strong finish with scattered scratches, handling marks and light edge wear. The lock displays attractive case-colored tones. The wood stock shows scattered scratches, dents and normal handling wear but remains attractive overall. The brass furniture shows tarnish, spotting and age-related discoloration. Green oxidation or residue is visible around the percussion nipple area and should be cleaned and inspected before use. The adjustable rear sight also shows handling and finish wear. This firearm has not been test-fired by us. The bore, nipple, ignition system and mechanical condition have not been independently verified.
