Description:
Peabody military rifle in 43 Spanish. I'm guessing a contract production that was never issued. Mechanically excellent, bore is crisp and shiny. Woood is sound, a few dings and lots of original finish. There are a couple of inspector's (?) marks and a clear tiny cartouche. Blue is very good mostly. Someone coaated the metal with a varnish at stome time, which I have removed. The barrel bands do not show a good blue like the barrel. Nice color on the receiver, not much on the lever. I have fired it with someless hand loads and accuracy was respectable. Very solid example
