For your consideration, the Colt Lightning slide-action rifle chambered in .44-40 WCF. Produced from 1884 to 1902, last patent date Feb 22, 87. This model is a medium frame manufactured in 1895. This model is one of around 400 rifles purchased by the San Francisco Police Department in 1898. These were marked SFP on the lower tang by the serial with a unique department number. .44-40 Winchester
