This is a VERY RARE Smith and Wesson Pre-World War II Registered Magnum double and single action revolver.
It is a 6-round N-Frame revolver with a square-butt.
It is chambered in .357 Magnum, has a 6 inch solid rib pinned barrel, and a bore that is in excellent condition.
An estimated 1400 to 2000 of these revolvers were made from 1935 to 1939 making this a VERY RARE revolver.
Based on the Smith and Wesson factory letter, this revolver was shipped from the factory on April 13th, 1937 and was delivered to Cook-Newton-Smith Co., New Haven, CT.
The features this revolver has as described in the included S&W letter matches this revolver to the letter.
The blue finish is in great shape with minimal imperfections.
The butt of the frame, rear of cylinder, yoke cut, and the included factory original box are all marked with the serial "51088".
The timing and lock up are perfect based on visual inspection.
It has a fluted cylinder, a shrouded ejector rod, and a checkered cylinder release.
The top strap and the top of the rib are finely checkered to reduce glare.
It has a King red post front sight on a reflector base and a King 112 square-notch rear sight with white outline.
The serrated trigger and finely checkered hammer have a color case finish.
The yoke cut is marked "B 51088 REG. 2198 8142".
The yoke is marked “8142”.
The right side of the frame is marked with the large S&W emblem and “MADE IN U.S.A.”.
The right side of the barrel is marked “S&W .357 Magnum”.
The left side of the barrel is marked "SMITH AND WESSON".
It has 2-piece smooth faux ivory grips that are in great shape.
The factory original 2-piece diamond checkered walnut grips with silver S&W emblems are included.
The underside of the grips are marked with the matching serial number "51088".
The grips are in great shape with no cracks.
The front strap and back strap are serrated.
This revolver qualifies as a Curio and Relic and can ship where legally allowed.
This VERY RARE vintage revolver would make a great addition to any firearms collection.
