This Springfield Armory M1 Garand is a beautiful late-production U.S. service rifle built around receiver serial number 5486657, placing it in Springfield’s final years of Garand production during the mid-1950s. The rifle retains the classic U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, M1 configuration that carried American forces through the Cold War era and remains one of the most sought-after military surplus rifles in the collector market.
A Springfield Armory barrel dated 12-54 is installed and appears entirely consistent with the receiver’s production period, giving this rifle a highly desirable barrel-to-receiver pairing. The rifle retains its standard long-stroke gas operating system, protected front sight assembly, and post-war T105 rear sight setup. The rifle presents as a well-maintained shooter with strong overall mechanical appearance.
The bolt is marked 6528287-SA A15, a Springfield Armory component associated with late-production rifles. The walnut stock bears a crisp CMP cartouche indicating a Civilian Marksmanship Program replacement or inspection stock.
