Description:
I was looking for a fairly inexpensive .222 to just knock around with. Found this one that showed a lot of cosmetic issues, which I didn't mind dealing with. The first thing I always do is run patches down the barrel of any gun I buy, especially one from an out of state ooutfit . As soon as the patch went in I knew there was a problem. Rough slide most all of the way. I was very disgusted and contacted the house (Montrose out of Greensboro, Ga). In essence the gal I talked to said tough bannas, if you want to know bore condition, call us before you bid. I have bought a couple of double guns from them and they were well described, including the bores. So, I went on faith and got screwed.
At any rate, I'm too old to fool around and get it rebarreled so I thought I would put it on here, with an honest description, and see if anyone wanted a project.
This is a very light weight rifle. Set triggers. Bolt face looks great. How in the hell someone managed to screw the bore up is beyond me. I put a set of Warne 30mm rings on it as I probably won't need them anymore. The barrel is threaded for a supressor. There is a spin area on the barrel toward the muzzle that I figure got there when they did the threading. Rear sight was removed and that left an area where the sweat soldering was. For whatever reason, someone drilled two small holes in the right side comb. They were then filled with some kind of wood. This poor fellow needs some love. No butt plate so I stuck the Limbsaver on it.
There you have it. I'm taking a hit on it but that's the way it goes. I won't be buying anymore guns from Montrose .
$25 to help on shipping. I do not hold an FFL so make certain your dealer will accept the rifle with a copy of my sate driver's license
