Synopsis:

Gorgeous, original condition Remington Model 1917 World War I military rifle with barrel dated 9-18, cleaning supplies, mirror bore and correct manual mechanics. Complete with a Pattern 1913 British bayonet dated 11-16. A wonderful ensemble, seldom found in this condition!

Description:

Remington U.S. military Model of 1917 rifle SN: 583160 with 26" barrel, drift adjustable front sight bracketed by protective ears with knurled surfaces. Top of adjacent barrel marked "R / flaming bomb / 9-18". Top of receiver "U.S. MODEL of 1917 REMINGTON 583160". Aperture rear sight with battle/ladder adjustment, the ladder graduated from 2-16. Additional flaming bomb inspections on the left side of the receiver and the top of the bolt handle. Eagle Head/324 inspections on the forward extension of the trigger guard, left side of bolt release lever, bottom of pistol grip, and small block on rear receiver. Standard smooth walnut furniture, the "B9" marked stock with finger grooves on either side and three rotating sling swivels. Flat metal trapdoor buttplate with cleaning implements. Complete with a Pattern 1913 bayonet dated 11 / 16 over an encircled "Remington", the obverse side of the ricasso with British proof marks, no US overstamps, leather scabbard with metal tip and throat.

Condition:

EXC original condition with the rifle retaining virtually all of its original blue except for minimal sharp edge wear, slight thinning over the magazine floorplate, and more noticeable thinning/toning of the bolt handle. Flaming bomb inspections on receiver and bolt having broken through the blue. Trigger guard screws with irregular slots having been turned from their originally staked positions. Handguard and stock with just a few very light handling marks, no cracks, sanding, or touch up. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. The bayonet is in G condition with crazing of the leather scabbard and extensive oxidative changes/wear of the metal fittings, comparable aging of the crossguard and oil-darkened wooden scales.
