ANTIQUE! Description: Single shot .45 caliber dropping block Martini action with 32.75" barrel, made under Peabody & Martini license, by the Providence Tool Company of Providence, Rhode Island, on behalf of the Turkish military, the crest of Sultan Abdul Hamid II appearing on the right side of the receiver. Fixed post front sight, notched battle-ladder rear sight marked with Farsi numerals, fitted with two barrel bands, the forward band with a sling swivel that is repeated in front of the trigger guard, a third swivel missing from the lower spine of the buttstock. Turkish moon/star and letter inspections on major and several minor parts to include the barrel, receiver, both barrel bands, trigger guard, and buttplate. Unmarked color case hardened action-release lever. Smooth walnut fore-end and buttstock, both with circular cartouches with intertwined letters. Unmarked in-the-white cleaning rod. Steel buttplate with coarse, bordered checkering. ANTIQUE! Condition: VG+ original finish with sharp edge wear, fading and early toning as one might expect from a military rifle, well over a hundred years old, that saw relatively little service. Most of the toning involves the barrel bands and battle-ladder sight assembly with fading of the action release lever. Walnut furniture is oil-stained with scattered light handling marks and bruises, a noticeable chip missing from the upper edge, left side of the forend. Mirror bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. One of the better examples of a Turkish contract Martini action rifle, made when Turkey was THE powerhouse country of the middle east! ANTIQUE! Price: $2,995.00 Manufacturer: Providence Tool Co.
