This Winchester M1 Garand is built around an authentic WWII-production Winchester receiver bearing serial number 2456148, placing manufacture in February 1944 during the height of America's wartime Garand production. Winchester-produced receivers have always occupied a special place in the collector market due to their lower production totals compared to Springfield Armory. This rifle combines that desirable wartime Winchester receiver with a professionally rebuilt CMP Special Rack Grade configuration, creating an outstanding blend of historical significance and modern shootability.
The rifle is fitted with a Criterion replacement barrel dated 01/24 and marked CBI 6535448. Criterion barrels have earned an excellent reputation among Garand shooters for accuracy, reliability, and faithful adherence to GI specifications. The included CMP inspection tag records a muzzle reading of 1+ and a throat erosion reading of 1+, indicating extremely low wear and excellent service life remaining. Combined with the fresh barrel and clean rebuild, this is a rifle ready for serious range use.
The bolt is marked D28287-19SA A-6, reflecting the typical mixed-part configuration expected on CMP rebuilt rifles. The rifle wears a beautiful CMP walnut stock set featuring the CMP eagle cartouche and presents with attractive grain throughout.
