Up for your consideration is an exquisitely engraved, truly one?of?a?kind Colt Single Action Army revolver, transformed into a Texas heirloom through the hand?cut artistry of Master Engraver David Wade Harris. This special commission features a full?coverage Texas theme, celebrating the heroes, symbols, and history of the Lone Star State.
Across the revolver you will find: Defenders of the Alamo, Early Texas Rangers, Historic Texas cattle brands, Lone Star and Texas Revolution motifs. All engraving is 100% hand?cut with hammer and chisel, no machine, no laser, no shortcuts. It is truly a masterpiece.
Provenance & Background
I purchased this Colt SAA several years ago from a private collection. It came with its original Colt box and paperwork and showed no signs of ever being fired. It did, however, have a few light handling scratches on the blue finish.
For a long time, I asked myself what to do with an almost perfect SAA. The answer became clear: Turn it into something unique, beautiful, and worthy of Texas history.
Living in Texas, I am fortunate to know Master Engraver David Wade Harris of East Texas. His work is highly sought after, with many of his engraved firearms selling for well over $12,000. I drove the Colt to his shop, and together we designed a full Texas?themed engraving that would elevate the revolver into a museum?worthy piece.
The engraving process took over a year, because you can’t rush an artist, especially one who engraves every line by hand. When I finally saw the finished revolver, the result exceeded every expectation. This is, without question, one of the most striking Texas?themed SAA engravings you will ever encounter.
