Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: VERY UNUSUAL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER EXTRA LIGHT .33 WCF WITH FULL MAGAZINE, SPECIAL SIGHTS, #132XXX, SHIPPED 1906. Interestingly, the serial number indicates a manufacture date of 1903, yet the Cody call-in sheet that I sent for states: “Serial number application date not available.” It further states: Rifle, .33 cal., round barrel, plain trigger, Sights: Lyman receiver, Semi-jack front, full magazine, shotgun butt rubber, received in warehouse August 29, 1906, shipped September 17, 1906. The .33 WCF was the only purely smokeless round chambered in the 1886 beginning in 1902. It is simply the big .45-70 case necked to accept still standard .338" jacketed bullets. As all .33 WCF 1886s have extra lightweight 24” barrels, they came standard with half magazines. Full magazines were rarely special ordered and when provided are actually larger in diameter than the muzzle of the barrel. Special sights are also rarely factory ordered or listed in the Winchester records. A fine example, this one shows good receiver blue with most of the wear on the bottom, receiver ring, tang, and edges. It retains the original Lyman 21 receiver sight, has a correct flat folding two leaf express rear sight with Lyman ivory bead front sight. The Winchester embossed hard rubber butt plate is original and in fine condition without cracks or chips. Magazine blue is deep and excellent. Fine barrel blue shows some light thinning/dulling on the top portion, exc. markings. Exc. stock and forearm showing only light handling with tight wood to metal fit. Exc. screw heads. Tight action with strong safety half-cock and exc. sharp bore. Call-In sheet included. A most rare and attractive special order 120-year-old 1886. Price: $3,250.00 Rifle Caliber: .33 WCF Manufacturer: WINCHESTER Model: 1886 Serial Number: 132XXX Barrel Length: 24 Condition: FINE Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
