Description:
Serial #603818, .30-06, 26" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This is a mixed parts rifle that has a 5-18 dated Eddystone barrel mated to a Remington receiver and bolt (which is numbered to a different gun on the handle). The metal retains 95-97% of an armory-applied parkerized finish with some mild gray fading at the muzzle, as well as silvering and fading along the body and bearing surfaces of the bolt. The walnut stock and handguard have numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout, as well as the full serial number stamped into the wood on the belly of the buttstock ahead of the rear sling swivel. No legible manufacturer initial is present on the nose of the forend. The rifle is accompanied by a 1916-dated, Pattern 1913 bayonet by Remington that has a darkly mottled gray and plum-brown blade, with mild surface oxidation on the exposed hilt fittings, and minor handling marks on the wooden grip scales. The Model 1917 scabbard with US belt hooks has a later added pale olive green painted finish throughout with some minor flaking in spots.
