The BSA Martini Cadet rifle stamped "VIC" and chambered in .25-20 Winchester is a classic custom sporterized military training rifle with a deep historical connection to Australia. The Action: BSA Martini Cadet Origin: These single-shot, falling-block action rifles were originally manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) in the UK between 1891 and 1949. They were produced primarily as training rifles for Australian military cadets. The "VIC" Marking: The "VIC" stamp on the receiver, often coupled with a "Commonwealth of Australia" marking or a kangaroo emblem, indicates that the rifle was originally issued to the state government of Victoria, Australia. Original Caliber: These rifles originally left the factory chambered in .310 Cadet (a proprietary British rimmed cartridge). When the Australian government sold these rifles as surplus to the public starting in the 1950s, ammunition for the original .310 Cadet round became increasingly difficult to find.
