The Remington Rand M1911A1 was the most heavily produced combat pistol for the United States Armed Forces during WWII. Built by a Syracuse, New York typewriter company that retooled for the war effort, Remington Rand manufactured 877,715 pistols between 1942 and 1945, Nearly double the volume of Colt.
