Description:
"Circa 1860. 30 ½" blade with a beautiful acid etched blade. Leather wrap is missing the wire wrapping. Scabbard is very good with brass mounting that are engraved on the face side. On the back side of the scabbard on the top brass mounting is the inscription which reads “Present to/ Lieut. James E. Gorle/ by the members of/ Co. D 123 Regt/ N. Y. Vol." The 123 New York Volunteers were organized in 1862 and were in numerous battles including Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Very fine Presentation Sword!
