Original German World War II First Model Luftwaffe dress dagger made by SMF Solingen with 12" straight double edged plated blade, scabbard, and hanger. A very nice blade, the other fittings...well...not so nice. Restoration, anyone?

Description:

German WWII Luftwaffe Dress Dagger made by SMF Solingen with 12" straight double-edged plated blade with nickel-silver crossguard and pommel with leather wrapped grip, in faded/tarnished metal scabbard with chain hanger. Ricasso area near crossguard with seated king/"SMF" over "SOLINGEN" and military acceptance. Grip covered in leather binding, terminating in circular pommel cap, each side with raised brass swastika. Metal scabbard, missing blue leather covering, with metal throat, secondary hanger attachment and chape, accompanied by an in-the-white chain and logo-marked hanger.

Condition:

EXC original blade with very clear markings, no nicks or evidence of sharpening, the other features barely "G". No buffer pad, the crossguard tarnished with scattered losses; the leather grip was previously painted red, paint still in grooves, and no longer has the thin wire; pommel condition commensurate with the crossguard. Scabbard is in similar disrepair: the nickeled silver fittings tarnished with losses, the throat missing its attachment screws, a small split extending from one of the holes, scabbard missing the leather covering, chape loose with tarnish and numerous nicks. Basically, a very nice blade-the other fittings needing serious TLC!
