A very attractive, original finish, Mauser K98k Long Side Rail Sniper Rifle made by Gustloff Werke in 1944 with largely parkerized parts, complete with a late parkerized Dialytan 4x "bek" coded scope with blued rings and "E/359" accepted mount and base, the scope and base mismatched to the rifle.

Standard configuration late war Mauser K98k Long Side Rail sniper rifle made by Gustloff Werke, cal. 8mm, a largely parkerized rifle with blued front sight hood protecting a drift adjustable sight set on serrated ramp, tangent rear sight graduated 1-20, barrel with SN: 45079, coding on upper surface, the receiver with the Gustloff code "bcd" is dated "4" (1944). Matching bolt handle, bolt head, firing pin shroud and the late "keyed" safety, a well-known feature of Gustloff LSR sniper rifles, configured to operate more conveniently under the scope bell. Most of the other components were not externally numbered: neither of the sheet metal barrel bands, the blued bolt release, the trigger guard marked with a "d", the floorplate with an "l", and the right side of the finely laminated stock with a large "H", markings on lower spine not legible. Cupped and checkered buttplate. The blued scope base is mounted on the left side of the receiver, secured with two tapered pins and three large screws whose heads are fixed with smaller locking screws. A small E/359 Waffenamt is between the first two sets of screws. The phosphated DIALYTAN 4X scope has elevation increments graduated from 1-8, is coded "bek" and SN: "78783". Reticle with a thick central post, minimally pointed, bracketed by two segments. Blued rings are unmarked. Blued base is SN: "2416", a small Waffenamt, size matched to the mount, is on the other side of the lever axle. The blued cleaning rod is unmarked. Complete with an original, correct sling.

Condition:

EXC original finish, the rifle showing a sharp edge wear and light fading in areas of usual contact, the parkerized and blued parts, contrasting nicely. Comparable condition scope; bright, minimally hazy optics with sharp reticle; the toning more pronounced on the forward bell and rings. Base and mount in EXC original condition in keeping with the rifle whose laminated stock remains rough to touch, without sanding or touch-up, oil darkened with relatively few handling marks, the In the-white buttplate with expected staining. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
