Description: General Specs: Parker, 1923, 20-Gauge, 6lbs. 2oz., Chokes LM/IM, LOP 14 1/2", DAH 3", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 203604 Parker shotguns become especially interesting in the DH Grade, where the guns begin to show the features collectors love: game scene engraving, figured walnut, elaborate checkering, and a greater likelihood of special-order options. Parker made a substantial number of DH Grade guns, including roughly 6,300 with Titanic Steel barrels, so finding a DHE is not difficult. Finding the right DHE is another matter entirely. Many Parker DHE guns found today are in common configurations or show the effects of age, use, and repair: turned screws, cut barrels, rust or pits, older restorations, replaced wood, or other alterations from their original factory specifications. The best examples are different. They retain high factory original condition, have desirable documented features, and remain substantially as they were when they left the Meriden factory. This “O Frame” Parker 20-gauge DHE stands well apart from other examples. Only 546 DHE guns were made in 20 gauge with 28-inch Titanic Steel barrels. The footnotes in The Parker Story indicate that 64% of those guns had selective ejectors, and only 3% had a single trigger. Applying those figures together suggests that roughly 10 or 11 guns were produced in this configuration. Now add the 14 ½” length of pull, original finishes, nicely figured capped pistol grip stock, and Parker skeleton buttplate, the result is a rare and desirable small-frame Parker. The gun is mechanically excellent and is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN HAVING THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON STRIPPED, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS SCRUBBED CLEAN, INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED, AND REASSEMBLED, NOW CARRYING A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY. This is a $450 service in our shop. For the buyer looking for one fine Parker to own, shoot, and preserve, this 20-gauge DHE deserves serious consideration.
