Description:
This is another gun with a “fighting cock” theme. I finished engraving this gun earlier this year. It features nine 24 carat gold inlaid birds surrounded by beautiful scroll work. The art design of this gun was influenced by the “fighting cock” grade designed by Felix Funken. He was the head engraver at Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Herstal, Belgium for many years. I had the privilege of being one of his apprentices and then one of his engravers starting in 1957 until 1975. He had a tremendous positive influence on me and helped me become the engraver that I am today. I personally engraved a few “fighting cock” grade guns while working at FN. This particular gun features my own Renaissance style scroll work. The left side of the receiver features a hawk fighting a duck and another duck with a marsh scene background. The right side of the receiver features a cock fighting another one with a meadows background. The forward bottom of the receiver features two gold inlaid foraging bobwhite quails and the rear bottom of the receiver features a gold inlaid mourning dove in a meadows background. The trigger guard features a gold inlaid bobwhite quail with a wood scene background. This gun has special features such as an engraved trigger guard, gold plated trigger and engraved screws. What makes this gun very special is that the top lever has been chiseled to look like the head of a duck with the eye in yellow and white gold. The custom stock, which features a straight grip, is made of a gorgeous piece of Turkish walnut that was shaped in Belgium and finished by Donnie Gemes. Eubanks Gunsmithing did the bluing on the gun. I did the grey finish. It has the autograph “ABee” on the bottom right and bottom left of the right and left side of the receiver respectively. NRA Grade: Excellent.
