Description:
Fine Vintage S&W Model 41 .22 Target Pistol Complete C.1980

Offered here for sale and just acquired is a superb vintage Smith & Wesson .22 target pistol in virtually 100% condition in original box with accessories.
Smith & Wesson Model 41 is widely regarded as one of the finest American-made .22 LR target pistols ever produced. Introduced in 1957, it was designed from the outset for bullseye competition and quickly earned a reputation for exceptional accuracy, outstanding trigger quality, and superb craftsmanship. It remained the flagship rimfire target pistol in the Smith & Wesson lineup for decades.
Based on its serial number A643945, this pistol was manufactured approximately in 1980, probably during the latter half of the year.
Features of the pistol
This Model 41 has the desirable:
  • 5½-inch heavy target barrel
  • Chambered in .22 Long Rifle
  • 10-round detachable magazine
  • Adjustable micrometer rear sight
  • Patridge front sight
  • Crisp factory adjustable target trigger (typically 2¾–3 pounds)
  • Original factory walnut target grips with thumb rest
  • Deep polished blue finish
The 5½-inch heavy barrel is considered by many shooters to be the ideal balance between the longer 7-inch target barrel and the lighter field barrel.
When acquired it was oiled and put away for decades. We wiped it down for photos however most of the photos do not do it justice with some streaks and oil residue remaining. With the condition as follows:
  • Near mint to mint original finish
  • Possibly unfired except for factory proof/testing
  • Mint bore
  • Original factory grips
  • Original factory box
  • Instructions
  • Factory tools
  • Properly stored for decades with only light oiling
This places it in the highest collector category for collectors.
Complete with matching box. There is only one small nick in the lid of box which can be lessened with some glue.
The Model 41 became famous because of its:
  • Exceptionally crisp trigger
  • Outstanding mechanical accuracy
  • Excellent balance
  • Very mild recoil
  • Superb machining and polish
Even today, many competitive bullseye shooters continue to use Model 41 pistols. A most collectible Smith & Wesson 41.
