Description:
This is an original dagger that measures 14 5/8" overall, with a 10 1/4" straight, double-edged blade. The blade is in excellent shape and has an overall bright gray patina with some faint scabbard marks on either face, and a crisp and clear Eickhorn trademark on the ricasso reverse. The silver-plated crossguard (with left-facing eagle) has tarnished to a mottled pink and black in spots with the assembly number "92" under the grip (this assembly number is also present on the underside of the gripstrap, underside of the pommel/backstrap, and on the base of the blade just above the tang as well). The mild tarnish continues on the remaining silver hilt fittings, although the grip strap still has a fairly bright gray patina, while the pearlescent composite grip is intact and in fine condition. Some minor scratches are present around the capstan at the top of the eaglehead pommel. The silver-plated scabbard is correct and has a matching tarnished patina with some traces of oxidation present along the smooth radii on the sides of the scabbard body. This is a splendid example of a scarce and desirable Third Reich dagger pattern, and would make a fine addition to any collection.;
