Early Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A rifles have earned an outstanding reputation among collectors for their close ties to the original U.S. M14 rifle program, and this five-digit example is an excellent representative of that sought-after production period. Built on receiver serial number 047746, this rifle retains the classic military profile that made the M14 one of America's most respected battle rifle designs while benefiting from Springfield Armory's commercial production. The included original green Springfield Armory factory box is an increasingly scarce accessory that adds meaningful collector appeal.
The rifle features the traditional 22-inch barrel, USGI-style flash suppressor with bayonet lug, and the proven M14 short-stroke gas piston operating system that delivers the reliability and smooth recoil impulse the platform is known for. The parkerized finish remains exceptionally attractive, while the walnut stock displays rich color with very little handling wear. The rifle presents as a well-preserved collector-grade example that has clearly been cared for over the years.
One of the highlights of this rifle is its TRW bolt, marked 7790186 TRW, one of the most respected U.S. Government contractors that produced M14 components.
