M1A rifles have earned an outstanding reputation among collectors for their close ties to the original U.S. M14 rifle program, and this five-digit example is an excellent representative of that sought-after production period. Built on receiver serial number 047746, this rifle retains the classic military profile that made the M14 one of America's most respected battle rifle designs while benefiting from Springfield Armory's commercial production. The included original green Springfield Armory factory box is an increasingly scarce accessory that adds meaningful collector appeal. The rifle features the traditional 22-inch barrel, USGI-style flash suppressor with bayonet lug, and the proven M14 short-stroke gas piston operating system that delivers the reliability and smooth recoil impulse the platform is known for. The parkerized finish remains exceptionally attractive, while the walnut stock displays rich color with very little handling wear. The rifle presents as a well-preserved collector-grade example that has clearly been cared for over the years. One of the highlights of this rifle is its TRW bolt, marked 7790186 TRW, one of the most respected U.S. Government contractors that produced M14 components. TRW parts have long been favored by collectors and shooters alike for their outstanding manufacturing quality. The rifle includes a leather military-style sling and one detachable 20-round magazine, completing the classic M14 appearance. Developed directly from John C. Garand's legendary M1 rifle, the M14 became the standard U.S. service rifle in 1959 before ultimately giving way to the M16 during the Vietnam era. Although its front-line military service was relatively brief, the M14's outstanding accuracy, durability, and power ensured its continued use by designated marksmen, ceremonial units, and specialized military applications for decades. Springfield Armory's M1A has become the definitive commercial continuation of that legacy and remains one of the most respected .308 semi-automatic rifles ever produced. Collectors continue to seek early Geneseo-produced M1As because of their strong association with USGI components and their historical place in Springfield Armory's production history. Combined with its early five-digit serial number, verified TRW bolt, beautiful walnut stock, military-style configuration and original factory box, this is an exceptionally desirable example that checks all the boxes serious M1A enthusiasts look for. Whether destined for the collection, the firing line, or the display rack, this rifle represents an outstanding opportunity to own an early chapter in the Springfield Armory M1A story. ***Please see pictures for condition and wear*** SHIPPING INFORMATION: IF THE ITEM YOU PURCHASE IS C&R ELIGIBLE, WE WILL ACCEPT A C&R LICENSE WE TRY TO SHIP FIREARMS THE SAME DAY PAYMENT/FFL IS RECEIVED.
