About the Smith & Wesson Model 60-4: The Model 60 holds a place in firearms history as the first stainless-steel revolver ever produced by S&W, introduced in 1965 as a rust-resistant answer to the Chief's Special. The 60-4 variant, introduced in 1990, brought a 3" full-underlug barrel and revised yoke retention system to the lineup — a favorite among those wanting slightly more weight and sight radius than the classic 2" snub without stepping up to a full-size service revolver.
