Here's a real beauty for the Colt collector or Python aficionado! This is a limited production "Python Hunter" that was manufactured in 1980 as a limited production of 2400-2500 pieces. This is a 1-owner gun, I received it directly from the original purchaser. The Python Hunter chambered the .357 Magnum cartridge and wore an 8-inch vent-rib barrel with special markings. Perhaps most notable was the factory installed Leupold M8 2x LER pistol scope with special Colt "prancing pony" emblem. The Pachmayr Presentation grips were also standard and fitted with gold Colt medallions. The Python Hunter came from the factory in a specially fitted Halliburton aluminum case with special cleaning rod, tool kit (including spare front sight blade), cartridge box, special owner's manual, etc. The Colt Python Hunter package is historically significant as the first field-ready handgun hunting kit offered by a major manufacturer.
Factory finished in Colt's lustrous royal blue, this Python Hunter is in excellent, nearly new condition! It has been fired and there are some normal powder burns to the front face of the cylinder and a light cylinder turn line. There are a couple of tiny marks near the side plate screw below the cylinder, and a couple of freckles to the sides of the hammer on the right side, but no other significant signs of wear. I'd grade this gem at 98%+. The mechanics appear to be in perfect working order with good timing, good lock-up, and an excellent bright bore. Likewise the scope is in excellent condition with good optics and free of any significant wear. The accessories all appear to be unused and all factory paperwork is present including the owner's manual, hang tag, scope instructions and even the instructions for the aluminum case. This is an outstanding example of an uncommon Python variant and will continue to increase in value. Don't let it get away!
