Description:
This is an early production, J & D Tool Co. 1954, U.S. M5 Bayonet & USM8A1 Scabbard V.P.Co. The bayonet is in very good condition, being a rare J & D Tool Co. produced blade having a non-standard curved runout. The 6 ¾" blade shows little signs of use with a J & D"s typical ruff production finish and one slight impact on the top false edge. The other interesting feature on this M5 is that it has one "Fat" and one Slender grip installed, a most puzzling thing. The USM8A1 Scabbard produced by V.P.Co. is in very good condition with fine hardware, light verdigris on the snaps, marked "15" and VP over 37 on the back.;
