Widely regarded as one of the finest production double-action revolvers ever built, the Python represents the pinnacle of Colt craftsmanship during the classic Royal Blue era. Hand-fitted by Colt's master craftsmen, the Python earned its reputation for exceptional accuracy, an incredibly smooth action, and one of the finest factory blue finishes ever applied to an American firearm.
This outstanding collector grade example features the highly desirable 4 inch barrel with Colt's distinctive ventilated rib and full underlug, fully adjustable rear sight, front ramp sight, and original Colt factory rubber target grips. The revolver exhibits the precise fit and finish that made the Python the benchmark by which all premium revolvers are judged.
Condition is best described as as new. The revolver retains an exceptional original Royal Blue finish with virtually no evidence of handling or use. The barrel markings remain sharp and crisp, the bore is bright, and the action is exceptionally smooth in both double-action and single-action operation. The cylinder exhibits only the faintest indication of handling, further supporting its outstanding collector-grade condition.
