The D-Max Sidewinder represents one of the most significant revolvers in the evolution of modern big-bore handguns. Built in Springfield, South Dakota, this revolver was the direct predecessor to what would become the Magnum Research BFR, carrying over the oversized frame and massive cylinder design that made the platform famous. With its scarce production numbers and serial number M23, this example comes from the earliest days of the design's development.
Chambered in the formidable .458 D-Max cartridge, the Sidewinder was engineered for shooters demanding exceptional strength and performance from a revolver platform. The heavy 6.5-inch barrel provides excellent balance while helping tame recoil, and the adjustable rear sight paired with the red ramp front sight allows precise zeroing for hunting or long-range handgun shooting. The oversized five-shot cylinder reflects the robust construction required for cartridges of this class.
