Description: Remington New Addition 514 .22LR Rifle C. 1953 UNFIRED Offered here for sale and just acquired is a fine vintage Remington small bore rifle acquired from a former owner who bought it new in the 1950s. The Remington Arms Model 514 was introduced in 1948 as an inexpensive but well-made single-shot sporting rifle. Production continued until 1970, with approximately 757,000 manufactured. A 1953 Remington Model 514 in UNFIRED is a remarkably scarce collector's piece. While the Model 514 itself is a common rifle, finding one that is completely unfired, still in the original factory brown paper wrapping, with the original instruction manual and hang tag is extraordinarily uncommon. It was chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges and features: Bolt-action, single-shot 25-inch barrel Walnut stock with plain oil finish Open sights Excellent reputation for accuracy and reliability It became one of America's classic youth and small-game rifles and introduced thousands of shooters to hunting and marksmanship. Remington did not serialize Model 514 rifles during most of the 1950s. The absence of a serial number is therefore completely correct and expected as this one is. If the barrel carries the Remington barrel date code ending in "ZZ," that confirms 1953 manufacture. Collectors place tremendous value on originality. Most surviving 514s were inexpensive working rifles used for decades by young hunters. There are only a couple of slighty storage marks on the piece. We therefore rate at 99%+ condition.
